A memorial service for Wesley Miles Lavender, 63, of Decatur will be Sunday, Aug. 14, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur with the Rev. Corley Carlisle officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be Sun., Aug. 14. From 2 to 3 p.m. at the church.
Mr. Lavender died Thur., Aug. 11, 2011, at his residence. He was born July 27, 1948, in Morgan County to Claude Wilson Lavender and Margie Miles Lavender, who preceded him in death. He was an assistant district attorney for Morgan County, a graduate of the University of Alabama, a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and a member of the Alabama Bar Association. He was a Cumberland Law School graduate and a Falkville and Somerville municipal judge. He was an Episcopalian and a past Decatur Country Club golf champion.
He is survived by a daughter, Lucy Lavender and husband Rich Desruisseau of Nashville, Tenn.; as brother, Claud Lavender and wife Belinda of Decatur; and a sister, Betty Weaver and husband Chuck of Dickson, Tenn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Anderson, James Whitmire, Jim McClary, Bobby Petty, Greg Bartlett, Mike Putnam, Doug Street, Mike Adams, Thomas Whitman and his Sigma Chi brothers.
