William Stephen “Steve” Douthit

Funeral for William Stephen “Steve” Douthit, 56, of Eva will be Sat., Aug. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at Blue Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph McCollum officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday (today), Aug. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Douthit died Wed., Aug. 10, at his residence. He was born Feb. 26, 1955, in Buford, Ga. to James David Douthit and Mark McClurken Stephens Douthit.

He was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church. He played baseball at Calhoun Community College and Southern Benedictine College and was an avid Alabama fan and an Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cecil Eugene Douthit.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Douthit of Eva; five sons, William Christopher Douthit and wife Miranda, Eric Stephen Douthit and wife Daniela, Bradley Ray Douthit and wife Jennifer, Nicholas C. Douthit and Gregory Ray Metcalf; two brothers, James David Douthit III and wife Wanda and Robert Alan Douthit; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be William Christopher Douthit, Eric Stephen Douthit, Bradley Ray Douthit, Nicholas C. Douthit, Gregory Ray Metcalf and Brandon Butler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Fincher, Phillip Rolfe, Roger Jeffreys, Eddie Passeur, Virlie Benefield and Kenny Benefield.
