Funeral for Martha Ruth Tanner, 78, will be Wed., Aug. 17, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle with the Revs. Clint Busler and Harold Thompson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Tanner died Mon, Aug. 15, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Mar. 7, 1933, in Morgan County to James B. Collum and Easter Brown Collum. She was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, a 1950 graduate of Falkville High School where she was a cheerleader and Miss Falkville High School. She was a bookkeeper and teller at First Alabama and Regions Bank. She was an active member of Sunday school and the United Methodist Womens’ group. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Hollis Tanner, a brother, James B. Collum Jr., a sister, Mary Alice Collum and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, James Mark Tanner and wife Judy T. of Tuscaloosa and Gradson Lynn Tanner of Hartselle; two sisters, Margaret Burleson of Russellville and Jean Minter of Hartselle; four grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Nell Tanner Howell and Valene B. Tanner.
Pallbearers will be Zach Tanner, Jordan Tanner, Will Tanner, Larry Minter, Aaron Burleson and Monte Burleson.
