Stephenson receives Chick-fil-A Scholarship
Chick-fil-A’s 38-year-old national leadership Scholarship program has awarded the honor to its newest recipient—a restaurant team member from Hartselle.
A $1,000 scholarship was presented to Sarah Stephenson from Chick-fil-A franchised operator Barry Keith at the free – standing Chick-fil-A® restaurant at Beltline Road in Decatur. Stephenson is the 24th team member from that location to receive the honor. She is currently attending Auburn University where she is studying Poultry Production.
“Sarah’s core values and pursuit of excellence align with the integrity and superior standards of Chick-fil-A,” said Keith. She is one of 50,000 dedicated and hard-working Chick-fil-A team members across the country who daily put forth their best effort in providing award-winning service and freshly prepared food to create as pleasant of a dining experience as possible for our customers. It is an honor to return the favor by acknowledging our team members’ efforts with this scholarship.”
More than 55 years ago, Truett Cathy wrote a personal check to support the college dream of an employee at his original Dwarf House® diner in Atlanta. Since that time, the chain has encouraged its restaurant team members toward pursuing excellence in education and officially created the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship program in 1973, seven years following the opening of Cathy’s first Chick-fil-A chain restaurant.
In 2010, Chick-fil-A reconfirmed its commitment to the scholarship program by increasing the annual amount being awarded by nearly $150,000 – more than a 10 percent increase. This year, Chick-fil-A has confirmed its commitment of $1.6 million in scholarship program support, impacting 1,600 students across the country.
