VOA submits variance request
The Volunteers of America has asked Hartselle’s Board of Zoning Adjustment to allow the organization to house five residents in a group home located at 1009 Mason Drive.
The application submitted by DeAnna Ferguson, vice president of services, is requesting the “reasonable modification/accommodation for persons with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Federal Fair Housing Act.”
The application also states the will not produce more traffic, utility usage or noise than a four-person home would and typically two or three vehicles will be parked at the residence at any given time.
The application also indicated that Bill King, president of the BZA, is one of the immediate neighbors of the proposed group home.
The BZA will have its meeting Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in the city hall auditorium.
