Lady Tigers take third in tournament
Hartselle High School’s volleyball team posted a 3-3 record in pool play and advanced to the silver bracket in the Juanita Boddie Invitational Tournament at Hewitt-Trussville High School last weekend.
In pool play, the Lady Tigers beat Vestavia 25-22, 26-24, lost to Huntsville High 25-23, 25-11, defeated Clay-Chalkville 25-20, 25-17 and lost to Oak Mountain 28-26, 25-21.
They defeated Hewitt-Trussville 25-11, 25-8 and lost to Bob Jones 25-16, 24-26,15-10 in tournament competition.
In tournament action, Katelyn Hill led the Lady Tigers in kills with 34. She also had six blocks and 10 digs. Olivia Golden was credited with 28 kills, five aces, two blocks and 43 digs. Savanne Howard recorded 98 assists, two kids, four aces, six blocks and 13 digs.
Other stat leaders included Elizabeth Russell with one kill, seven aces, 31 digs and five assists; Kaylee Shelton with 19 kills, seven blocks and seven digs; Taylor Lybarger with 18 kills, six aces and 24 digs; Sarah Ellen Battles with four aces and 45 digs; and Haley Jared with 10 kills, two blocks and one assist.
Hartselle 20-19-27, Addison 25-25-29
The Lady Tigers dropped their season-opening match to host Addison 25-20, 25-19, 29-27 on Aug. 18.
Golden led Hartselle with 15 kills, three digs and three blocks. Howard had 25 assists, one dig and two blocks.
Hill recorded five kills, nine digs and three blocks. Lybarger had two aces, three kills and eight digs. Jared had two kills, two digs and two blocks. Elizabeth Russell had an ace and four digs. Battles had four digs and Melissa Paul Hill had two kills.
