Some churches reek of hypocrisy
Dear Editor,
After reading the story, “ All’s well with city, pastor,” I thought of the signs you see when coming into Hartselle’s city limits. I believe it reads, “City of Southern Hospitality.” Really now! Is it southern hospitality to act in this manner? Is it the Christian thing to do? What would Jesus do? Would He go to the council and complain?
For the life of me, I cannot understand how allegedly area Christian people get their motivation. Seems that, according to the scriptures, you are supposed to love your neighbor, not make waves that would prevent him and his family from moving forward.
Although this situation has been resolved amicably, it still reeks of the level of hypocrisy in today’s local society that I have written about for years. Churches, ministers and parishioners are all to quick to get involved in politics and other people’s lives, all in the name of God. Yet, when the pendulum swings their way, they’ll scream to high heaven about intrusion upon their religious rights.
I refuse to attend any church in Hartselle. These aforementioned people don’t practice what they preach. What you see, is not what you get!
