St. Amand receives Jane Nelson Fields scholarship
The annual Jane Nelson Fields Memorial Scholarship was presented to Rochelle St. Amand.
The Danville alumnus who graduated in 2011 played basketball and soccer at Danville, played AAU basketball and volunteered as a referee and coach and played in the American Youth Soccer Organization program.
She was the Danville FFA president, DECA club member and was named Miss. Danville High School.
St. Amand plans to attend Seward Community College in Kansas this fall on a livestock judging scholarship. St. Amand is the daughter of Mark St. Amand and Vicki St. Amand of Hartselle.
The scholarship is in memory of Jane Nelson Fields who graduated from Falkville High School. Jane played basketball at Calhoun Community College and basketball and softball at UNA.
She later was a teacher and coach at Speake High School, Hazelwood High School and Eva Jr. High School. Jane passed away Dec. 15, 2005, from a long battle with ovarian cancer.
The scholarship is an annual one-time scholarship available to any senior female athlete in the Morgan County School System.
Contributions to the Jane Nelson Fields memorial scholarship can be made at either Superior Banks in Falkville or Hartselle.
A multi-year plaque was also presented to be displayed at the school of the scholarship recipient for that year.
