2 connected with double murders
Suspects charged with double homicide, robbery at Krystal
Two men from Hartselle have been linked to the double homicide and robbery at Krystal restaurant on Sixth Ave. SE in Decatur on Aug. 24.
Jordaan Stanly Creque, 21, of 602 Homeplace Ave. in Hartselle was arrested the day of the murders and charged with two counts of capital murder. Ezekiel Marquez Gholston, 20, of 1117 Pattillo St. in Hartselle was arrested on Friday and charged with two counts of capital murder.
Victims in the homicide were night manager Jeffrey Mark Graff, 50, of Huntsville and Jessie Jose Aguilar, 23, of Decatur.
According to a Decatur Police Department press release, Graff’s body was discovered by an employee when she reported for work shortly before 5 a.m. on Wednesday. She notified Decatur police and they found Aguilar’s body in the restaurant’s walk-in cooler shortly after their arrival. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Police located Creque in the emergency room at Decatur General Hospital at approximately 6 a.m. and he was subsequently questioned, arrested and charged.
Creque was employed at the fast-food restaurant and police believe he used his status as an employee to gain entrance. The business is closed to walk-in traffic between midnight and 5 a.m. but keeps its drive-through open.
On Friday, Gholston was arrested at a residence in Trinity and was later charged with two counts of capital murder.
During the course of the investigation, police concluded that another Kyrstal employee, Cassandra Rayann Eldred, 22, of Decatur drove the other two suspects to and from Krystal. She was subsequently charged with two counts of capital murder.
On Saturday, divers searched Wilson Morgan Lake and within 20 minutes located a 9mm handgun, which police believe the Alabama Department of Forensic Science will confirm that the gun is the murder weapon.
Police reported that a portion of the money stolen in the robbery has been recovered.
The restaurant reopened for business on Tuesday.
