BOE buys property next to new Hartselle High
The Hartselle Board of Education agreed to buy 1 1/4 acres of land adjoining the property of the new high school as part of a right of way acquisition and for future growth of the school.
School superintenent Mike Reed said he felt the purchase is a “good move” for the future of the school. He anticipates the land will be cleared and could be used for parking once the school opens.
Mayor Dwight Tankersley, who attended Monday’s special board meeting, said a portion of the property is also necessary for building the entrance to the new school.
In other business, the board:
• entered into an agreement that will allow the City of Hartselle to manage the offsite infrastructure projects including road improvement.
• hired Alan Wood to fill the position of self-contained special education teacher at Crestline Elementary.
