Brewer miscues help Arab gain first game win
ARAB – Brewer High School’s Patriots turned the ball over six times and went on to lose to the Arab Knights, 48-6, on the road Friday night.
Three of the turnovers, all interceptions, let to Arab touchdowns. Lee Menefee returned an interception 37 yards for a first quarter score; Trey fields took one in from 27 yards and Cass Pierce returned one for 90 yards.
The Knights also scored on a 82-yard kickoff return by Easton Anderson to open the second half and a 13-yard run by Easton.
The Patriots scored in the third quarter on a run by Weston Pritchett.
“Turnovers and mental mistakes killed us,” said Brewer head coach Daniel Gullion. “We turned the ball over four times and three of them went for touchdowns.
“We’re a young team and that showed. We’ve got to do a better job of handling the ball and eliminating mistakes. That’s something we’re working hard to correct.”
The Patriots will face another difficult challenge Friday night when they take on Hartselle’s Tigers in a regional matchup.
