DHS runner-up at West Morgan tourney
The Danville volleyball team finished second to Addison in West Morgan’s 24-team tournament Saturday.
The Lady Hawks went undefeated in pool play defeating Central Tuscaloosa 25-14, 32-30; Good Hope 23-25, 25-12, 15-6; Walker 25-16, 25-16; and Falkville 25-13, 25-13.
In the eight-team tournament playoff, Danville narrowly defeated Walker in the quarterfinals 25-23, 22-25, 15-8. The Lady Hawks then swept Madison Academy in the semifinals 26-24, 25-21.
Addison then defeated Danville in the finals by the score 25-18, 25-13
For the day, Sydni Shelton led the team with 82 kills, six assists, six blocks, 10 aces and 32 digs.
Jada Callahan also had 41 kills, 18 aces and 26 digs. Setter Haley Rae Garnett collected 118 assists while Hannah McClung had six blocks.
Rounding out the leaders was Keri Callahan 18 digs.
Danville will travel to Hartselle Thursday to take on the Lady Tigers and Guntersville. After the Labor Day break, they will play at Addison on Tuesday.
Lady Hawks sweep Athens, Priceville
The Danville Lady Hawks defeated Athens 25-14, 25-15 and host Priceville 25-25-16, 25-14 Monday evening.
Callahan finished with 10 kills and 14 digs. Shelton had 18 kills while Garnett had 26 assists.
Jessica Hogan had two blocks while Lacy Roberts and Lindsey Vinzant had four aces each.
