HHS struggles in Huntsville tourney
Hartselle High School’s volleyball team struggled in competition against some of the top-rated teams in a three-state area at the Huntsville Invitational Friday and Saturday, winning one match and losing five.
The Lady Tigers easily defeated Hutchinson-Memphis 25-23 and 25-7 in pool play on Friday, but after that is was all downhill
In other pool play competition, they lost to Centennial of Franklin, Tenn. 22-25 and 16-25; Woodward of Atlanta, Ga. 24-26, 29-27 and 18-20, Brentwood, Tenn. 12-25, 28-26 and 7-15, and Greenwood of Bowling Green, Ky. 25-23, 15-25 and 6-15.
They replayed Woodward in tournament action and lost 25-17 and 25-19.
“The competition was tough as we expected it would be,” said Hartselle head coach Tanya Lybarger. Most of the teams there were from much larger schools than Hartselle. Hopefully the tough competition will help us get better and be prepared for regional and post-season competition later on.”
