New Center Baptist Church celebrates 1886 organization
I have found a good way to relax after a hard day. I go to my pantry take out a quart of my momma’s homemade vegetable soup. It never gets too hot to have soup for me. A bowl of hot soup with crackers or cornbread is a great finish to a long hard day.

On Sat., Aug. 27, Mike and Kaye Widener hosted a reception at the old Somerville Courthouse in honor of the marriage of their daughter, Meagan Widener, to Darren Hargrove, son of Danny and Betsy Hargrove. Many friends and family members were on hand to wish the couple much happiness. The couple was married Aug. 13, 2011, in Ocala, Fla. They will reside in Gainsville, Fla.
On Sunday, Sept. 4, special services will be conducted at New Center Baptist Church in celebration of the Church’s organization on Sept. 5, 1886. There will be no Sunday school. Instead, a morning worship service will be conducted at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary. It will continue through the noon hour. There will be a note burning ceremony to celebrate the paying off of a church loan. There will also be special music and guest speakers. A viewing of the items that were buried in the time capsule when the church celebrated its 100th anniversary will be held. After the worship service, a covered dish meal will be served in the fellowship hall. Members are asked to bring extra food for guests and visitors and their families.
Also, another time capsule will be buried. If you would like to place something in the capsule, see one of the celebration committee members. There will be no service on Sunday evening.
