Funeral for William Ellis “Nabor” Holmes, 81, of Hartselle will be Fri., Sept. 2, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Wanda Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery.
Mr. Holmes died Tue., Aug. 30, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Morgan County to Bronco Hobbson and Essie Dunlap Holmes. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed by Hayes Aircraft as an aircraft mechanic for several years. He was a very skillful craftsman and became self-employed as a master woodworker and homebuilder. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him happy with his humor. He loved his wife of 56 years very deeply and both of their families were very important to him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Holmes of Hartselle; a brother, O.D. Holmes of Decatur; three sisters, Peggy Williams and Jane Russell, both of Falkville and Freda Holmes of New Mexico.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
