Woman charged with stabbing husband during Alabama game
A Hartselle woman is in jail after police said she took a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband while watching the Alabama football game on Saturday.
Kimberly Hicks, 54, of 15 Lockhart Road in Hartselle was arrested and charged with second-degree domestic violence. Information about her bond was unavailable at press time.
On Saturday, deputies were dispatched to her residence in reference to a domestic assault where one subject had been stabbed. Upon arrival, authorities found the husband, Donald Hicks, on his front porch with a stab wound on his hand. The victim told the deputies that his wife, Kimberly, had stabbed him once.
The victim refused to go to the hospital and was treated by at the scene.
Police initially believed the suspect had locked herself inside the residence but later discovered she fled on foot through a field prior to deputies’ arrival. A sheriff’s deputy K-9 unit attempted a track that led back to the road where the suspect may have been picked up by a vehicle.
The suspect was later found down the road at a near by neighbors home and arrested. According to a Morgan County Sheriff’s Department press release, both the victim and the suspect had been drinking all day and watching the Alabama football game. The knife was recovered by authorities.
