Hartselle police discover batteries in baby’s diaper
Hartselle police found a lot more than an expired tag when they stopped an automobile to question its driver Tuesday night.
Upon searching the vehicle, they found ingredients used in the production of methamphetamine. And after the Morgan County Drug Task Force was called in, the cries of a 19-monthy-old baby girl led officers to a package of lithium batteries, which had been hidden inside the toddler’s diaper. Lithium batteries can be used to make meth.
Bryant Pigg, 42, and his companion, Amanda Hill, 32, both of Vinemont, were taken into custody. He was charged with unlawful manufacturing of a controlled substance II and she was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The toddler was released into her grandmother’s custody.
The case has been turned over to Morgan County District Attorney Scott Anderson, who will decide if child endangerment charges should be made against the couple.
