Lady Tigers runners-up in Hazel Green tourney
Hartselle High School’s Lady Tigers won four of five games and claimed runner-up honors in the Glenda Wright Invitational Volleyball Tournament at Hazel Green on Saturday.
The team is now 22-15 overall and 3-0 in area competition
In pool play, Hartselle handed Jacksonville its first loss of the year, 25-20,17-25,15-11 and also defeated Tullahoma, Tenn. 25-13, 25-14.
The Lady Tigers had wins over Walker, 25-10, 25-20, and Buckhorn, 25-20,22-25, 15-11 in tournament bracket play before losing to Jacksonville in the championship game.

mproving and becoming more productive.”“
“I just hope we’re peaking at the right time,” she added.
Katelyn Hill paced Hartselle in kills with 34, acres with nine and blocks with seven. She also contributed 31 digs.
Other Hartselle scorers were: Olivia Golden, 31 kills, 45 digs and seven aces; Savanne Howard, 2 kills, 111 assists, 23 digs, four aces ad five blocks; Elizabeth Russell, two, 31 digs and three aces; Kaylee Shelton, 29 kills, four digs and five blocks; Taylor Lybarger, 19 kills, 24 digs, an ace and two blocks; Haley Jared, 14 kills, an assist, five digs and four blocks; Sarah Ellen Battles, an assist, 22 digs and three aces; and Tori Miller, five digs and five aces.
Lady Tigers defeat LCHS, Haleyville
Hartselle High School’s Lady Tigers Improved to 17-14 overall and 2-0 in area games by defeating Lawrence County and Haleyville in a tri-match competition on Sept. 13.
Hartselle easily downed Haleyville 25-5, 25-17 and got by LCHS 25-12, 15-14.
Golden had 16 kills, six aces, four digs and a block for the winners while Hill scored eight kills, 12 blocks and five digs.
Other Hartselle scorers were Shelton with nine kills, two blocks and an ace, Lybarger with six kills, 10 blocks, three digs and two aces, Howard with 35 assists, two digs, a kill, a block and an ace, Russell with 12 kills, seven digs, an assist, a block and a kill, Tori Miller with 11 blocks and three assists, Jared with 10 blocks, a kill, an assist and a digs and Battles with 10 kills, four digs and an ace.
