Morgan County cleanup to begin Monday
The week of Sept. 26 through Oct. 1 is an important week to keep in mind if you have old discarded appliances, household furnishings and other rubbish that you want to dispose of free of charge.
Morgan County residents will be able to do some serious cleaning during the annual Morgan County Fall Cleanup thanks to the coordinated efforts of Morgan County Commissioners and Morgan County Adopt-A-Mile volunteers.
The Decatur-Morgan County Landfill at Trinity will accept household rubbish free of charge from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Non-acceptable items include shingles, tires, household garbage, lumber or hazardous chemicals.
From Sept. 26-30, district shops 2, 3 and 4 will receive rubbish from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Oct. 1 from 7 to 11 a.m. District 1 will received disposable items on Saturday only from 7 to 11 a.m. Personnel will be available to assist those needing help to unload their vehicles.
At the same time Adopt-A-Mile volunteers will be concentrating their efforts to pick up any litter on county rights-of-way and other public grounds.
