Homecoming festivities planned at Hartselle High
A host of fun-filled activities are in store for Hartselle High School students next week (Oct. 3-7) as they prepare for a regional football clash with the Curry Yellow Jackets, the crowning of a homecoming queen and dancing the night away in the J.C. Pettey Center.
A Homecoming King Contest will be launched during fifth period on Monday, Oct. 3. Twenty-eight nominees will be announced and each will begin raising money for votes, with proceeds earmarked for the PTSO. The nominee who raises the most money will be crowned king at a pep rally on Oct. 7, and have the honor of crowning the queen during the halftime of Friday night’s football game.
Homecoming maids and homecoming king nominees will be introduced at a homecoming kick-off Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the Pettey Center. Homecoming court attendants will also be announced. Admission is $3 per person and everyone is invited to attend.
Work on homecoming lawn decorations will get underway on Tues., Oct. 4, after school.
A Battle of the Classes will be conducted on Wed., Oct. 5, at J.P. Cain Stadium. Tickets are $3 per person. Students will walk to the stadium and cheer on the team for their grade. There is a faculty team, and each class has a team that will compete in fun athletic events.
Powder puff football teams will compete at J.P. Cain Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m. Tickets are $3 per person.
Lawn decorations will be judged at 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, at J.P. Cain Stadium and will be displayed there all day and during the football game that night. Winners will be announced during the game. The homecoming king fundraiser will conclude at the end of the fifth period and the winner will be announced during a homecoming pep rally, which will be staged in the Pettey Center at 2 p.m.
The Hartselle Tigers will host Curry in a homecoming football game on Friday at 7 p.m. The homecoming queen will be crowned during a halftime ceremony.
The Hartselle High School Relay for Life team will sponsor a fifth quarter homecoming dance immediately after the game, ending at midnight. Admission will be $5 per person. HHS students and their dates are invited.
