Danville shut out by Lauderdale

Lauderdale County’s C.J. Jackson rushed for 216 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 54-0 win over the Danville Hawks last Friday night at Smith-Owens Stadium. The Tigers, now 7-1 on the year, rushed for 455 yards as a team while holding Danville to just 61 yards of total offense.
Jackson scored all his touchdowns in the 1st half, helping Lauderdale County to a 35-0 halftime lead. Jackson’s scores came on runs of 6, 53, 80 and 28 yards respectively.
Sandwiched between his third and fourth scores was a 31-yard pass from quarterback Samuel Grisham to Brandon Diaz.
Lauderdale County would score three more times in the third quarter. Grisham got the first score on a 32-yard run. On the Tigers next possession, Reid Newton capped a nine-play, 45-yard drive with a 1-yard run. Lauderdale County’s final score of the evening came on their next possession with Terrell Fuqua rushing down the right sideline for a 55-yard touchdown.
With the loss, Danville falls to 1-7 on the year. The Hawks will conclude region play Friday night as they travel to Greenhill to face the Rogers Pirates. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
