HHS JV finishes 6-1

Hartselle’s JV ended the season Monday night with a 32-0 win over Mortimer Jordan, giving the Tigers a 6-1 record on the season.
Mortimer Jordan received the opening kickoff but fumbled it. Hartselle recovered and 3 plays later quarterback Brett Blackwood took the ball around the left end from the 7-yard line for Hartselle’s first score. The PAT was no good, and with 6:42 left in the first quarter, Hartselle led 6-0.
Both defenses then stiffened up, and no other scores were allowed in the first quarter.
Hartselle’s second score came with 5:30 remaining in the second quarter when Tanner Oaks took in a perfect 38-yard strike from Blackwood to make the score 12-0. The PAT was no good.
Mortimer Jordan fumbled on the second play of the next series, and Hartselle recovered. Three plays later, Oaks took the throw from Blackwood and bulled his way into the end zone for Hartselle’s third score. The PAT was good, and with 4:09 left in the first half, Hartselle led 18-0.
With 5:30 left in the third quarter, Hunter Bray handed off to Oaks, who proceeded to scamper 28 yards around the left end for the touchdown. The PAT was good, making the score 25-0.
The game’s final score came on a 34-yard run by Hartselle’s D’Andre Mack with 2:47 left in the game, making the final score of 32-0.
The Tigers lost their opening game to Cullman and then closed the season on a six-game winning streak. According to the Hartselle Quarterback Club’s website, the team defeated Hayden, West Point and Curry at home and Walker and Austin on the road.
