Journey Church holds benefit singing
Oh! It’s fall, my favorite time of the year.
I love the colored leaves, fall flowers, bright October moon, warm sunshiny days and cool nights. It just doesn’t last long enough, then come the cold days.
We have been enjoying all of these wonderful days. At the moment I have a bouquet of wild flowers on the deck, in the living room and on the dining room table. But oh, my allergies are terrible.
Fall is also time for the Eva Beauty Pageant. It was held on Saturday night. Our Little great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Terrell, was one of the contestants. Of course, we thought she was the prettiest of all.
Also on Saturday Journey Church held a benefit singing for Sandra Coots who is fighting cancer. Canaan’s Crossing did a wonderful job. Our own Owen Drew Long plays and sings with the group.
Last week we were saddened by the loss of our cousin, Ermord Lindsey, and Loyd Childers. Our prayers go out to their families.
I visited my friend, Mary McElvey, on Friday. She’s home from rehab and is doing as well as could be expected.
We received a miracle last week. We had asked for prayers for our great-grandson, Chase Jesse, who had a return of cancer in a lymph node in his neck. The doctors successfully removed it and reported that the cancer was confined to the node. Please keep him in your prayers.
Our friends, James and Kitty Ellis, haven’t been well. We hope they are better soon. They are friends from the Eva Senior Center. They will be leaving later this month for their home in Florida.
We saw Margaret Weaver last week. She said the Class of 1950 had a reunion dinner at Marcy’s in Eva. They had 13 class members present.
I was blessed on Friday night to have a sleepover for five little great-granddaughters. Enjoying the time together, including popcorn and a movie, were Kayleigh Casey, 12, Katrina, 9, and Breanna Stark, 8, and Brooklyn, 9, and Lannie Kate Terrell, 4.

Happy late birthday to my husband, Al, on Oct. 17, granddaughter Beth on Oct. 8 and Deanna, Oct. 12.
Chad and Rohnda Kruger enjoyed having visitors form Texas last week.
Julie Mooney had her family over for dinner on Sunday. They also had a pumpkin carving, hayride and marshmallow roast.
David Smith was injured when he had a wreck on his four-wheeler last week. The last word we have is that he is doing better.
Jennifer Douthit had surgery at UAB Hospital in Birmingham on Tuesday. Please remember her in your prayers.
Our friend and classmate, Billy Hue Humphries, is in Decatur General Hospital where he is being treated for a stroke. We all love him and are praying for his full recovery. He has started rehab.
