Pot found at flea market

Hartselle Police didn’t find illegal spice after being called to the Hartselle Indoor Flea Market Saturday.
Instead officers found marijuana and now a Boaz woman is now in the Morgan County Jail.
On Saturday, a person told police officers that a vendor within the Hartselle Indoor Flea Market was selling spice, which was made illegal to possess or sell following an act of the Alabama Legislature this month.

Hartselle Police officers contacted the business owner, who as Charlotte W. Montgomery, 58, of Boaz. The owner told officers that she was not in possession of spice and that the officers could search behind the counter.
During the search, officers didn’t discover any spice, but they stumbled on three large glass jars that contained hydroponic marijuana.
The Morgan County Drug Task Force and its K-9, Morrow, were dispatched to the scene, which led to more marijuana, drug paraphernalia and digital scales being discovered in the suspect’s vehicle. The estimated street value of the pot is $3,000.
Montgomery was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Montgomery was placed in the Morgan County Jail where she is being held on a $2,800 bond.
