Somerville Methodist bake sale Nov. 19
I hope everyone had a great week.
The benefit for “Dinky” Free at the Soggy Bottom Music Barn was a huge success. The weather was nice and a large crowd attended. A big “thank you” goes out from “Dinky” and his family to everyone who attended, all of the groups who performed, all of the donations and prayers and everyone who worked so hard to make the event a success. A special thank you also to Joel and Phillip Gurley for the use of their facility. Please continue to pray for “Dinky” and his family.
The women from Somerville United Methodist Church will hold a bake sale and fundraiser at Piggy Wiggly on Highway 67 near the Hwy. 36 and Hwy 67 intersection on Sat., Nov. 19, beginning at 9 a.m. The proceeds will go to missions of the church. I urge everyone to go out and buy something good. Ladies, you can buy and delicious cake for Thanksgiving dinner and save yourself a little time in the kitchen.
A gospel singing will be held at Somerville Assembly on Nov. 19, beginning at 6 p.m. The Dollar Family from Fayetteville, Tenn. will be guest singers. This will be the last singing at the church until spring. Everyone is invited to attend. A love offering will be taken for the singers.
I would like to send out a special prayer for all firefighters and police officers who risk their lives daily to save and protect others. A special recognition service was conducted at Somerville Assembly on Sunday morning, honoring J.J. Daugette and Chris Shimek of Decatur Fire and Rescue. They answered a fire call last week and found an elderly lady who has been overcome with smoke and was unconscious. They got her out of the building and she was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. When questioned about what they did, J. J replied, “It was just part of our job.”
We are proud to report that Vernon White is doing well after his surgery and is now able to drive.
Somerville Assembly welcomes a new member last week and another one at Sunday night’s service.
Everyone who attended homecoming services at Community Baptist Church on Sunday enjoyed the service and fellowship.
Congratulations to my nephew, Clift Daugette, who has announced he will be getting married in March, 2012.
Somerville Assembly will have its fellowship and Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.
A big hello goes out this week to Colleen Moore, Gertrude Wray, Frank and Martha Gravatt and Wanda Taylor.
Prayers go out for Tommie Butler this week
