HHS has 6 relay teams qualify for state
For the first time in school history, Hartselle High School has qualified six relay teams for state championship competition at Auburn University Dec. 2-3.
In addition, two team members qualified to compete at state in individual events. They are Jess Horton in the 50 Free and 100 Free and Tiffany Pittman in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Breast and 200 IM.
Relay teams that advanced beyond the North Alabama High School Swimming Championships in Huntsville on Nov. 18 are listed as follows:
• Girls’ 200 Medley—Brantley Kelliioni (Backstroke), Tiffany Pittman (Breaststroke), Jordan Bruner (Butterfly) and Jess Horton (Freestyle)
• Girls’ 200 Freestyle—Kayla Hogan, Lauren McCoy, Molly Mayfield and Megan Rodgers
• Girls’ 400 Freestyle—Tiffany Pittman, Jordan Bruner, Brantley Kelliioni and Jess Horton
• Boys’ 200 Medley—Alex Holloway (Backstroke), Michael Powell (Breaststroke), Lynn Mullins (Butterfly), and Trey Fanning (Freestyle)
• Boys 200 Freestyle—Lynn Mullins, Trey Fanning, Nathan Roark and Alec Holloway.
• Boys’ 400 Freestyle—Michael Powell, Michael Kent, Geoffrey Stout and Nathan Roark.
“The success of this team has been unprecedented at HHS,” said head coach Kim Pittman. “Their long season of dedication and hard work has paid off and everyone is excited about the opportunity to compete at the state swim meet.”
