Ryan School photos, trophies displayed at Union Hill School
The class photos and athletic trophies, which were collected and displayed at the former Ryan School since 1917 have been preserved and are now on display at Union Hill School.
The class photos were digitized and reproduced on poster-size paper by Ms. Karla Mahan, business education and computer teacher at Union Hill School, with the assistance of her students. They are displayed in the lobby of the school in a picture table, which was built by agribusiness teacher Perry Holmes and his shop students.
Assisting with the preservation with Ryan School’s memorabilia were Robert “Bobby” Crawford, Betty Lou Dinsmore Leeth and Betty Jo Ryan. They provided pictures, newspaper articles, annuals and general information about the school
The athletic trophies are on display in the lobby of Union Hill’s gymnasium. They are being preserved in a case, which was built by Ricky Nails and Steve Thompson,Morgan County Maintenance Department employees.
“We’re pleased to have this important school memorabilia preserved on our campus,” said Union Hill School Principal Robert Elliot. “Ryan School may have closed, but the memories and accomplishments of its students and faculties will not be forgotten.”
