Williams completes pre-med internship

A Hartselle resident recently completed the eight-week summer Huntsville Rural Pre-Medical Internship of the UAB School of Medicine, Huntsville Regional Medical Campus.

Leslie Williams, 20, the daughter of Rita and Michael Williams, is a junior at UAB majoring in chemistry.

The experience centered on the interns spending 150 hours shadowing and learning from physicians and other medical professionals at UAB School of Medicine – Huntsville and private physicians. Williams worked with Dr. Ricky Deerman of Rainsville.

They attended lectures on subjects ranging from farm injury to hospice care and took field trips including visiting a community hospital.
