Police find abducted child, father

Police are have located a Decatur man and the 2-year-old child he allegedly abducted from a Homewood day care center.

Decatur police said the child is safe.

According to a press release from the Decatur Police Department, John Augustine, 55, of Decatur went to the center Thursday and picked up his 2-year-old daughter, India. He then left the scene with the child.

Police said the suspect was not supposed to get custody his child.

Morgan County Circuit Judge Glenn Thompson issued a court order to law enforcement officers to take possession of the child, who is considered by the court to be in imminent danger while in the custody of Augustine.

He is driving a gray 2007 Honda Pilot with the Alabama license plate: 52A02J5.
