SNAP wins $2,500 by making top 10
The John Mark Stallings Special Needs Accessible Playground in Hartselle will receive $2,500 and still has a chance to win a share of $35,000.
The playground was entered in a Facebook contest sponsored by Peoples Bank of Alabama, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary by donating money to local charities. SNAP was among the top 10 vote-getters to receive $2,500.
Now, the charity has a chance to win the grand prize. The top three of those 10 will split the $35,000.
SNAP project manager Bob Francis said local residents can help SNAP win prize money by voting for the project every day until the contest ends Aug. 8 at 11:59 p.m.
“We appreciate everyone’s help for us make the top 10,” Francis said. “It’s good news and we hope that we can win a share of the grand prize. It would definitely be a big boost to our treasury.”
Francis said that the voting is open to anyone who is a member of Facebook.
“You don’t have to live in Hartselle to vote,” Francis said. “We’re hoping to get as many people as possible to vote.
“Receiving any money from this contest would be a big boost for us. So we’re asking everyone to help us.”
Other charities included in this contest are Morgan County Extension 4-H, Habitat for Humanity and Decatur General Foundation.
