Commission sponsors Fall Cleanup Oct. 1-6
The Morgan County Commission is stepping up again to help residents dispose of old worn out appliances, household furnishings and other accumulated junk free of charge.
During the week of Oct. 1-6 – Fall Cleanup Week – residents will be able to get some serious cleanup work done thanks to the combine efforts of the Morgan County Commission and Adopt-A-Mile volunteers.
The Decatur-Morgan County Landfill at Trinity will accept household rubbish free of change from 6 a.m. top 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
Excluded are non-acceptable items such as roof shingles, tires, household garbage and hazardous chemicals.
In addition, District 1, 2 and 4 will have large trash receptacles available to accept household rubbish free of charge from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday, Oct. 1-4, and from 7 to 11 a.m. on Saturday. District (Decatur) 1 will accept trash at its location only on Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m.
County employees will be on duty to assist those needing help to unload their vehicles.
During the same period, Adopt-A-Mile volunteers will concentrate their efforts toward picking up litter on county road rights-of-ways and other public grounds.
