Owens completes Marine basic training

Blade Owens of Hartselle has completed 13 weeks of Marine basic training at Parris Island, S.C. where he earned an expert medal as one of the top marksmen in his class.

Following a 17-day furlough at home with his family, he will report to Camp LeJeune, N.C. for additional training in security.

Owens graduated from Hartselle High School in 2011 and joined the Marine Corps in January 2013. He is the son of Amanda Vinson and the stepson of Chris Vinson of Hartselle. He is the brother of Chelsea Owens, a 2012 graduate of HHS and the grandson of Sandra Prater.
