Aquatic Center sees big opening weekend

Hartselle Aquatic Center opened with a big turnout of swimmers and sunbathers last weekend even through the water temperature was a bit chilly at about 66 degrees Fahrenheit.

“As usual, we had our biggest crowd of the weekend today,” said assistant manager John Elmore on Monday afternoon.

“We’ve been really busy since we opened at 10 a.m.” he added. “We’re seeing a lot of families and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Concessions have also been very popular and we couldn’t ask for better weather.”

Overall, this opening weekend compares favorably with last year when we opened the facility for the first time, said Lacy Garnett, manager. “We’re excited about the swim season. Everything is going really well.”

Aquatic center hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
