A graveside service for Audrey M. Perry, 91, of Williamsburg, Va., was Sat., June 1, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg, Va.
Mrs. Perry died May 31, 2013, at Woodhaven Hall, Williamsburg Landing, Va., surrounded by her children. She was born in Baltimore, Md., on Feb. 2, 1922, and attended Mars Hill Junior College, Wake Forest University and graduated from Baylor University. In the fall of 1952 Mrs. Perry was touring Europe with friends and a chaperone when she met her husband, William J. Perry, M.D. at the Brussels, Belgium airport. Dr. Perry was an attache for the U.S. Navy, stationed in London. After a whirlwind romance they were married in Baltimore on April 18, 1953. They remained married until his death in June, 2010.
Dr. and Mrs. Perry lived in Alexandria, Va, for many years and lived in Albuquerque, N.M., and Hartselle, Ala., before moving to Williamsburg in 1982. Among other endeavors, Mrs. Perry wrote a column in the Hartselle Enquirer, owned a gift shop and volunteered at Colonial Williamsburg. The Perrys had four children, Nena Lee and husband Dan Purtzer, John and wife Jeanne Louise, Richard and his late wife Andrea and Aimee Siegel and husband David. They also had four grandchildren, Andrea and William Purtzer and Jessie Anne and John Byron Perry.
