Blackwood named to Super All-State

Hartselle junior shortstop Brett Blackwood was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Super All-State baseball team, after having a record-breaking season for the Class 5A champions.

In addition to this honor, he was named the Class 5A Hitter of the Year and the Class 5A All-State shortstop.

Two other Tigers were members of the Class 5A All-State team. South Carolina signee Jackson Smith was one of four all-state pitchers. Chris Brown, who signed with the University of Alabama-Huntsville, was the Class 5A all-state catcher.

Senior Deacon Aldridge received honorable mention as an outfielder.

Priceville’s Ryan Madewell was also named to Class 4A honorable mention for first base.
