Blackwood wins Hitter of Year
Hartselle junior shortstop Brett Blackwood was named to the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Super All-State baseball team and was recognized as the Class 5A Hitter of the Year.
The Class 5A All-State shortstop collected 103 hits in 2013, the most in a season for AHSAA.
South Carolina signee Jackson Smith was one of the four 5A all-state pitchers. Chris Brown, who signed with the University of Alabama-Huntsville, was the Class 5A all-state catcher.
Hartselle senior Deacon Aldridge and Priceville’s Ryan Madewell received honorable mention.
