McKendree UMC youth support missions project
Joe and Rachel (Holladay) Slate enjoyed celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary on Mon., July 1. They still work six days a week and are the owners of Holladay Antiques, located on Main Street in Hartselle.
I enjoyed attending the 65th Morgan County High School (Hartselle High School) class reunion with them Saturday, June 22.
Those attending enjoyed special music by Rachel Slate and Sandy Hughes, playing their accordions, and some good old-fashioned gospel singing by Jeff Halbrooks and his mother, Sarah Plemons.
Joe Slate led the group in prayer and announced the names of the class members of 1948, who are deceased.
I want to wish a very special happy birthday this week to my friend, Kay Farrer, who will celebrate her birthday on Sun., July 7. God bless you Kay and may you have many more happy birthdays!
The Falkville High School Class of 1952 met for breakfast at Libby’s in Priceville on Sat., June 22, at 8:30 a.m. Those attending included Jack and Ina Holladay Hucks, Bob and Charlotte Evans Wise, Williard and Betty Sanders, Howard and Helen Gibson, Sarah Hadley Gaines and Shirley Cooper Neill.
The next breakfast meeting will be Sat., July 27, at 8:30 a.m.
Best wishes go out this week to Gilmer Ellis from his many friends for a safe and happy retirement. We appreciate Gilmer’s years as a student, athlete, teacher, coach and administrator at Danville High School.
The Falkville High School Class of 1963 enjoyed holding its 50th reunion at the Falkville School cafeteria Sat., June 22, at 3 p.m.

Herbert and Josh Spinks, South Korea; Seth Fagan, Marines; Anthony Thomas; Matthew Young; Lee Thompson and Brad Wallace.

McKendree United Methodist Church youth participated in a mission project June 18-22. The leader and speaker was Kevin Domingue, youth minister from Maryland. He was also the speaker at the Sunday morning worship service. The mission team did house repairs and yard work for needy persons.
McKendree UMC youth conducted the morning service Sun., June 23, at 10:45 a.m. They included Kirby Posey, Alli Hogan, Stephen Radford, Caroline Partlow, Maggie Tanner, Richard Johnson, Hayden Partlow, Will Tanner, Dori Wallwork, Ethan Partlow, Hannah Smith, Lorenzo Ochoa, Ivy Ochoa, Maria Ochoa, Brannigan Crawley and Brandon Crawley. Youth leaders are Kevin and Stephanie Crawley.
Employees of the Falkville Town Hall enjoyed lunch on Tuesday at Momma’s Roadhouse Grill. The restaurant was formerly Full House Restaurant and is located across from Love’s Travel Center.
The women who participated in Change the World Day met at Danville United Methodist Church Thurs., June 27, at 6 p.m. Many of those attending made handmade greeting cards for nursing home patients. Others made cards for area shut-ins. The pastor is Brother Mike Vest. He and his wife Tammy will be helping with the project.
