Frances Segars Whitten

Funeral for Frances Segars Whitten, 84, of Decatur was Tues., July 2, at 2 p.m. at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Ledlow and Ben Bates officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Whitten died Sat., June 29, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital.

She was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Morgan County to Grady Washington Segars and Annie L. Cobb Segars. Mrs. Whitten was an active member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and was retired as an LPN from Decatur General Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Olan D. Whitten; a brother, Hubert Segars; and her parents.

She is survived by three sons, David G. Whitten and wife Sherry, Barry C. Whitten and wife Donna, both of Decatur and Randy L. Whitten and wife Tammy of Hartselle; a sister, Helen Parker of Union Grove; five grandchildren, David A. Whitten of San Diego, Calif., Timothy D. Whitten of South Carolina, Sarah Farley of Trinity and Drake M. Whitten and Meg A. Whitten, both of Decatur; and five great-grandchildren, Mikayla Whitten, Emily Whitten, Mason Whitten, Molly Whitten and Natalee Farley.

Pallbearers were family and friends.
