Madaline Free Cox

A graveside service for Madaline Free Cox, 92, of Hartselle was Tues., July 2, at 11:30 a.m. at Cedar Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Cox died Sat., June 29, 2013, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 26, 1920, in Morgan County to John Allen Free and Lizzie Armstrong Free. She and her late husband Homer Cox, who died in 1968, owned and operated Cox Jewelry in downtown Hartselle for more than 20 years. She was a member of Hartselle First Church of God on Hwy. 36 West.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Thornton and husband Randall of Hartselle and Edwina C. Tapscott of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Bobby Harold Tapscott Jr. and wife Amy, Nancy Tapscott Pierce, James Edmond Thornton and wife Jenn and Arreanna Victoria Thornton Day and husband Andrew; and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were many loving family members, including Tony Cox, Dan Cox, John Cox, Harold Tapscott, James Thornton and Jason Tapscott.
