HHS practice field to get sod
The Hartselle Board of Education will spend up to $45,847 to install sod for the football practice field at Hartselle High School.
The original plans called for the field to be seeded. HHS project manager Jim Maynard with Martin and Cobey Construction in Athens said this process would not enable the football team to practice on the field this year.
Safety concerns were also discussed at the work session since the team would have to travel across the railroad tracks to practice on the old field at the Sparkman Street campus.
The Tifton 419 Bermuda sod will be installed inside the track area.
