Richard deploys on USS Truman

The USS Harry S. Truman, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, recently departed from Navel Station Norfolk, Va., beginning an eight to nine month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.

Aboard the ship was Navy Airman Kyle B. Richard of Danville among other sailors. Richard is the son of Cynthia D. and Lewis R. Richard.

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group completed a composite training unit exercise in January and sustainment and fleet synthetic training in June. Their original deployment was set for February, but it was postponed until recently.

Richard is a 2012 graduate of Lawrence County High School. He joined the Navy in August 2012.
