From bistro to Bliss

Local woman expands business in new location

In May, Bliss Skin Spa expanded and relocated to Nanceford Road.

Bliss is a full-service spa that has a salon, estheticians and a masseuse. Britny Holt, owner of Bliss, opened the business in 2017 to be closer to her daughters.

“I was working in Decatur, and I had just had a baby. I knew I wanted to be closer to the girls,” Holt said.

Holt said she centered her business around skincare. “It was built on skin. I feel like it was something that was lacking,” Holt said. “I think skin care is important, and I want to get the word out that this is something we offer in Hartselle.”

Holt said she began to feel successful when people started booking services with her. “Actually having people book services and having people I don’t know call is a big deal to me. Word of mouth is everything,” Holt said.

With her growing success, Holt decided to expand the business and bring in more people – starting with hiring Nancy Knighten as a masseuse. Holt continued to look for more people as she began to search for a new location to accommodate everyone.

“The reason I was doing it by myself in the beginning was I was afraid of who I would get, but I knew (God) would send who I needed at the right time,” Holt said.

Holt said she also contacted several people and added more members to her team once she had decided on the new location. “Together we make the perfect group. They are all very talented and a huge blessing,” Holt said.

Despite having found the perfect group, Holt said she still had to work to make the perfect location. The store was a former bistro, and she completed renovations with the help of her husband. “It went from bistro to salon,” Holt said. “It was very yellow in the beginning. The owner put down new flooring, and my husband and father-in-law built the front desk. We painted almost every room.

“This provided us more space, and I always knew I wanted to do a full salon,” Holt added.

Holt said the new location helped bring her dreams to life and allows her to serve the community she loves while being closer to family.

“Hartselle is home,” she said.
