An enchanting evening for father and daughter

ARTICLE UPDATED 9/05 DUE TO DATE CHANGE

The second annual Cinderella Ball will be taking place October 15 as part of Depot Days. The ball is a night for daughters and their fathers to dress up and enjoy a night of fun. The event will take place at Hartselle First Assembly of God from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

According Andrea Owensby, president of the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce, the event is meant to be fun night for families. The girls are encouraged to dress up or like their favorite princess, and each girl will receive a tiara. “It is a memory maker, it is something for fathers to be able to take their princesses out for a night,” Owensby said.

The ball will have food, dancing and an appearance from Cinderella for photos. The girls will also each be introduced like a princess during a lead out.

Kathy Summerford from It’s Your Day is helping to decorate and plan for the event. “Every little girl dreams of being a princess and who better to be their Prince Charming than their dad,” Summerford said.

According to Summerford, they are planning to make this event larger than last year with more decorations and activities for the girls. “We are just trying to make a magical night for young girls and their fathers,” she said.

The event will take place as part of the Depot Days festival taking place next week. According to Owensby, the event encompasses the goal of having fun family events for the community. “Depot Days is a week of events for the community. This just targets a different audience, specifically families with daughters,” she said.

The event is $50 per father daughter couple, and includes the activities and food. There is no age limit to attend. Registration forms can be picked up at the Chamber, or can be reserved over the phone.
