Vicky Parker

Graveside funeral service for Vicky Parker, 59, was Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with Bro. Wade Stover and Bro. James Glover officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial followed service.
Mrs. Parker died Sept. 17 at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
She was born April 6, 1959, in Morgan County to Theo Caris Weeks and Iva Totman Weeks. She was employed as a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Thomas Parker; two sons, Theo Hoskins (Brandy Whitley) and Tommy Parker (Summer); one brother, Tommy Weeks (Edna); two sisters, Michelle McDonald and Belinda McCloer; and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Melinda Parker, Theo Hoskins, Tommy Parker and Josh Whitley.
Daniel Hullen Grantham
Valhermoso Springs
A Celebration of Life service for Daniel Hullen Grantham, 58, was held Sept. 28 at 6 p.m. at The Vineyard in Arab.
Mr. Grantham died Sept. 18 at his residence. He was born June 15, 1960, in Maryland to Daniel Hullen Grantham Sr. and Judy Grimes Grantham. He was employed by Goodman Company as a forklift operator. He was a great husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. In his free time, he loved drag racing at the Huntsville Drag Strip and Mopar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dana Marie Grantham.
Survivors include his wife, Shelia Ledbetter Grantham; one son, Nakia Waits; one daughter, Christie Bryant (Terry); one sister, Patricia Grantham Hancock, (Chuck); five grandchildren, Brittany Woosley (Michael), Jake Bryant, Cody Waits, Angel Waits and Polly Waits; two great-grandchildren, Paxton Woosley and Leland Woosley; and stepmother, Brigitte Grantham.
Lois Benson
Decatur
A memorial visitation for Lois Benson, 84, was Sept. 21, from 6-8 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Benson passed away Sept. 18 at her residence. She was born Jan. 28, 1934, in Armstrong County, Pa., to Paul Merwin and Garnet Hare Merwin. She was employed by the Polk General Hospital, in Bartow, Fla., as a head nurse and assistant director of nursing, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bob Benson, who passed away in 1985, and her parents.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Benson (Deby) and Robert Benson; and two grandchildren, Skyler Benson and Zoey Benson.
Donald Joe Ferguson
Hartselle
Funeral service for Donald Joe Ferguson, 64, was Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Wayne Penn officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. The body laid in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Ferguson died Sept. 19. He was born Feb. 9, 1954, in Morgan County to James Robert Ferguson and Bertha Mae Brewer Ferguson. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Retired from his registered nursing career at North Alabama Regional Hospital, he had started working with Red-X- Fitness in Decatur. He loved sports and was an avid Alabama fan and loved hunting and riding motorcycles. He loved keeping his yard very neat.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother David Ferguson.
Survivors include four sons, Sam Ferguson (Brittany), David Ferguson, Matthew Ferguson and Ben Ferguson; two daughters, Heather Bolding (Daryl) and Leah Ferguson (Ben); one brother, Randy Ferguson (Shirley); one sister, Jackie Graham (Taylor); and five grandchildren, Zane, Dean, Kate, Carter and Maddox.
Pallbearers were Shannon Ferguson, Ben Andrews, Daryl Bolding, Taylor Graham, Mac Graham and Tyler Ferguson.
James Franklin Cowart Sr.
Decatur
Graveside funeral service and interment for James Franklin Cowart Sr., 74, was Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Powers officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Cowart died Sept. 19 at his residence. He was born Dec. 7, 1943, in Morgan County to Paul Monroe Cowart and Annie Lou Kirby Cowart. He was employed as a landscaper. He was a loving father and grandfather and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Cowart, his parents, son Timothy Cowart and a granddaughter, Mary Motes.
Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Cowart, James Cowart Jr. and Thomas Cowart; one daughter, Susie Motes; one brother, Danny Cowart; two sisters, Margaret Cagle and Donna Smith; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brooke Cowart, James McCulloch, Tim Cowart, Luke Cowart and Calvin Motes.
Mary Francis Lawrimore
Hartselle
A memorial service for Mary Francis Lawrimore, 76, was held at the Hartselle Civic Center by her family Sept. 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Mrs. Lawrimore died Sept. 14 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born July 24, 1942, in Morgan County to Arthur Aaron Brown and Gracie Beatrice Brown. She was employed as a cook prior to her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Lawrimore; her parents; three sons, Arthur Joe Barber, Ricky Gene Barber and Gary Dean Barber; five brothers, Charles, Paul, Jack, Henry and James Brown; and five sisters, Elizabeth Brown, Dorthey Brown, Lilly May Brown, Linda Brown and Florence Brown.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Douglas Lawrimore (Donna) and Steven Barber (Holly); one sister,
Pat Brown; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the family or Peck Funeral Home.
Harriet Cascella Owen
Hartselle
A Catholic Funeral Mass was held from noon to 1 p.m. for Harriet Cascella Owen, 79, Sept. 24 at Annunciation of the Lord Catholic Church, with Wyman Vintson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Owen died Sept. 19 at East Alabama Medical Center. She was born March 14, 1939, in Pennsylvania to Samuel Ralph Cascella and Hattie Marie Stephenson Cascella. She was a nurse for Hartselle Medical Center and enjoyed nursing until the age of 72, when the hospital closed down. She loved arts and crafts and casinos and mostly loved to be with her family and her granddog “Belle.”
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Owen, and her parents.
Survivors include three daughters, Leanne Beasley Luter and her husband Jeff, Pamela J. Owen and Rhonda M. Strider; one sister, Mary Jane Hodgson; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Jarrett Beasley, Casey Beasley, Jeff Luter, Nolan Owen and Wesley Owen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice.
Josephine (Jo) Dean
Leonardtown, Maryland
Josephine (Jo) Dean, 78, of Leonardtown, Maryland, passed away in the early morning hours of Sept. 3 after a three-year battle with cancer.
She was born June 24, 1940 to Earl and Ruby McCalman of Vinemont. Oct. 13, 1958, she married Franklin E. Dean. One year later they were blessed with the birth of their only child, a daughter.
Her life’s accomplishments included being a loving daughter and sister; a dedicated U.S. Navy wife, living in various places in the United States; the best mother ever; and a fantastic seamstress. She turned her ceramics hobby into a business and later ran Dean’s Cleaning, which serviced residents and businesses throughout St. Mary’s County, Maryland.
Josephine treasured her time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. Through her battle with cancer, she maintained her sense of humor and demonstrated her will to live, personal strength and her love for her family and friends. She welcomed everyone into her life with a hug!
Josephine is survived by her daughter, Terry (Bob) Bohannon of Manassas, Virginia; four grandchildren, Bobby Whitehead, Heather (Tom) Lim, Melissa Whitehead and Quin (Jessica) Bohannon; 10 great-grandchildren, Makayla, Kambri, Kheydin, Chase, Abel, Felix, Alexis, Christian, Evelyn, and Edmee; brothers and sisters, Felix (Jerri) McCalman, Edna Rutsey, Delores (Doug) Poole and Mike (Carol) McCalman; and many nephews and nieces.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her disabled veteran husband and her brother John.
The endless number of lives she touched with her laughter and love will forever be her legacy.
Christene Sullins “Cricket” Ward
Priceville
Funeral service for Christene Sullins “Cricket” Ward, 79, of Priceville, was Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with John Bain, Danny Ward and Mackey Watts officiating. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Ward died Sept. 21. She was born May 28, 1939, in Marion County to Ola Lee Sullins and Bertha Winsette Sullins. Mrs. Ward was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She was known to her grandkids as “Granny Stene” and to all of her friends as “Cricket.” She was a loving wife with a huge heart and a personality that brought a smile to everyone she met. She was your friend for life.
Mrs. Ward was a faithful church member that loved Jesus and loved to be around other people that love Jesus.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra Ann Livingston; one brother; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, James Robert Ward of Decatur; one son, Danny Ray Ward (Terri) of Hartselle; one brother, Orbie Sullins of Hamilton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Wes Ward, Shanon Ward, Kimm Livingston, Danny Ward, Patrick Livingston and Bobby Franks.
Roland “Smokey” Livingston

Funeral service for Roland “Smokey” Livingston, 80, was held Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Fanning officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Mt.
Carmel Cemetery.
Mrs. Livingston died Sept. 22 at his residence. He was born Nov. 14, 1937, in Morgan County to Hubert Roland Livingston and Naomi “Gatha” Hopper Livingston. He was a welder employed by Drummond Coal Company Inc. prior to his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Unzell Livingston, his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one son, Brandon Livingston (Lori), Eva; two daughters, Terri Hightower (Kenneth), Hartselle, and Daphne Sloas (Darren), Eva; three sisters, Marigurette Alexander, Eva, Gail Childers, Eva, and Sharon Hall, Killen; six grandchildren, Brandi Hughes (Tim), Chelsee Campbell, Cody Sloas (Skylar), Cameron Sloas, Jalyn Campbell and Kendall Livingston; and one great-grandchild, Lauren Hughes.
Pallbearers were members of Mr. Livingston’s family.
Cody Lee Morgan

Funeral service for Cody Lee Morgan, 28, will be Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Barry Sempsrott officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Dancy Chapel

Mr. Morgan died Sept. 23 at Decatur Morgan Parkway Medical Center. He was born Nov. 14, 1989, in Morgan County to William Ledlow and Rita Mills. He was employed as a machine operator for Feralloy Company and attended the Epic Church in Decatur. He was a loving husband and father of three with a very giving heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Gene Ledlow.
Survivors include his wife, Stephanie Rodriquez; three sons, Cody Morgan Jr., Landon Rodriquez and Asher Morgan; parents, Rita and Tim Mills; three brothers, Shane Ledlow (Kiley), Jessie Ledlow (April) and John Hunt; five sisters, Christy Morgan (Ea), April Ricks (Dansha), Brandi Mills (Jakob), Kayla Mills (Garrett) and Jessica Richardson (Scott); stepmother, Lynn Ledlow; grandmother, Patsy Shelton; mother and father-in-law, Carla and Rudy Rodriquez; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Shane Ledlow, Jessie Ledlow, John Hunt, Austin Ledlow, Dansha Ricks and Edward Garrett.
