Second Halbrooks hearing slated for Oct. 24

A second appeal hearing regarding suspended Hartselle Public Works director Tommy Halbrooks will be held Oct. 24 at 3:30 p.m. The hearing before the Hartselle Personnel Board will be held at city hall and will be open to the public.

Mayor Randy Garrison first terminated Halbrooks July 24, citing allegations of a hostile work environment. Halbrooks challenged the decision in a public hearing Sept. 6.

In a letter to the mayor, the three-member personnel board recommended Halbrooks be reinstated due to “procedural deficiencies” in his termination.

According to Halbrooks, he was reinstated late September then suspended the same day because of new allegations.
