BBE-A-Treat brings candy and fun

Barkley Bridge Elementary School hosted their third annual BBE-a-treat Oct. 30. The event took place at the school and welcomed hundreds of students and their parents for trick or treating and fun.

Students were able to dress up and trick or treat from their teachers.

Tina Towers is the principal at Barkley Bridge and said the event was a success. The teachers and staff at Barkley Bridge all dressed up and decorated the school to give their students a safe place to trick or treat. “It was a fun time to see our kids in costumes with their parents. It was just a fun family night to visit with everyone,” Towers said.

Students were able to listen to scary stories in the library.

Towers said there were somewhere between 300 – 400 people that came to the event. She said the students seemed excited to be able to show their costumes and spend time with their parents and teachers. “We could hardly move in the building!” Towers said.

In addition to handing out candy, there were also scary stories in the library and a fall themed choir performance. This year was the first time the choir performed for the night. The group was made up of students in the third and fourth grade, and they performed “Scaring Alive” to the tune of “Staying Alive” and “Autumn Leaf”.

Special to the Enquirer
Choir students in the third and fourth grade did a fall themed performance for their parents.

According to Towers, the event began as part of their school book fair. Having the event allowed parents and students to browse the books together. This year, the book fair did not work out, but Towers said they wanted to have the event anyways. “It is just something we will do whether we have the book fair or not because it is so fun! It is just a night of family,” Towers said.
