FALKVILLE- Representatives of the Town of Falkville made a visit to Montgomery Friday to receive a check for a CDBG $350,000 grant, with a $50,000 match, to follow through with a $400,000 sewer project.
Mayor Ken Winkles received the check from Gov. Kay Ivey and ADECA director Kenneth Boswell.
“The study will be on our sewer system on the east side of railroad tracks – that’s where a lot of the water is,” Winkles said. “We’ve already spent close to $9,000 to see where the heaviest water travel was. We were able to narrow it to a smaller area for the project.”
Winkles said employees have already smoke tested the area, so the project is already in the works.
“We’ve fixed a few infiltration areas that needed it, and we will continue to work on it,” Winkles said. “We’re also going to run camera lines through the sewer to see where the water is going and coming in.
“We’re very excited and thankful for this. It’s just going to continue to help our town.”
Winkles said the town applied for the grant at the end of July.
