Make use of your wastebasket
By Phillips Hines, Minister
One of the most useful items in my study sits beside my desk, and another one is in my closet. It is the wastebasket, which is rarely empty.
It seems the only time I empty it is when I begin to drown in trash. My desk often stays cluttered with many other things that should be thrown away. Someone has said the average desk is simply a wastebasket with drawers.
Now, I bring this up about the wastebasket to emphasize that the wastebasket can also be a clue to successful living.
Too many lives are heaped with rubbish that should have been tossed in the wastebasket (Philippians 3:13-14). Old anxieties, petty grudges, bitter resentments and more are often nurtured day by day, as though we are not desirous of ridding such from our lives. Such is a sign of immaturity and a lack of real love (1 John 4:20).
Brethren, there is only one place for stupid irritations, boiling feuds, grudges, hatred and envy. That place is the wastebasket!
