Falkville High School graduate Aaron Estes serves as athletic intern with Dallas Cowboys

Aaron Estes, son of Neal and Dawn Estes of the Massey community, is a junior at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, majoring in athletic training and minoring in nutrition.
Aaron was ball boy for Neal during some of the football seasons when Neal was coaching football at Falkville High School. Aaron was quarterback for the Falkville Blue Devils varsity squad his junior year and, after an injury, played defense his senior year.

Last school year, Aaron was the girls soccer team trainer at Alabama, and for the 2017-2018 season he was trainer for the men’s basketball team. He went to the Orange Bowl playoffs with the Crimson Tide as a trainer.
This semester, he has an internship at Sipsey Valley High School in Tuscaloosa County. Then during the summer, Aaron is looking forward to his internship with the Dallas Cowboys.

Corinth West Baptist February News

Corinth West Baptist Church Members welcome a new member to their church nursery class: Conner Allen Morgan. Allen was born Feb. 7 and joined the class soon afterward. His parents are Cody and Kami Morgan. His siblings are Mykal and Addylynn Morgan. The proud maternal grandparents of Mt. Vernon community are David and Dawn Shedd. His paternal grandmother was the late Tina Day Morgan.

Falkville Town Council Events

Falkville’s Town Council and Mayor Ken Winkles met Feb. 25 at 4 p.m. in the conference room for a work session. March 4 the mayor and council met in the courtroom at 4 p.m. Part of the business session was the town-sponsored “Egg Drop” along with the County Park and Recreation Department scheduled for April 13 at 10 a.m. The event is for ages 12 and younger, and prizes will be awarded for the most eggs picked up in each age group. More than 6,000 eggs will be filled with candy and toys and dropped from an airplane at the South Park on Culver Road.
The Utilities Department changes were noted, and changes will go into effect in June 2019. If residents have questions, they can call the town hall at 256-784-5922.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Activities

Feb. 24 the Rev. Jamie Stewart conducted the morning worship service at 10:45 a.m. Dr. Jerome Ward was the speaker for the evening worship service at 6 p.m. Feb. 24. The Mt. Zion Baptist Brotherhood breakfast was held March 3 at 7:30 a.m. Loraine Cost, head of food service, served breakfast to the group in the fellowship hall.
The families of Mattie McAbee and Brad Killough assisted with a bridal shower March 3 from 2- 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall. The bride-to-be, Mattie McAbee, is the granddaughter of Wayne and Terisa Tapscott.

Fairview–The Grace Place welcomes Gordon Mote in concert Feb. 24

Singer and pianist Gordon Mote gave a concert at Fairview–The Grace Place, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. Members and visitors from neighboring churches and communities in the South Morgan area enjoyed the music by Gordon. He began playing piano at age 3. Many who attended had seen him on the Gaither Classic Gospel TV show or concerts of the Gaither vocal band during the several years Gordon served as their pianist. He is also proud to be an Alabamian from Gadsden.
