Carlos Clark Crow

Decatur

Funeral service for Carlos Clark Crow, 84, was held June 14 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Gibson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mr. Crow died June 10 at Decatur Health & Rehab Center. He was born July 3, 1934, in Morgan County to John Winford Crow and Mary Elizabeth Clark Crow. He was a wonderful carpenter and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Coy, Curtis, Virgil and Louie Crow; three sisters, Marie Dearmon, Kathleen Gibson and Bessie Ramey; and a granddaughter, Kylie Brooke Lawrence.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby J. Crow; one son, John Clark Crow (Dena); one daughter, Joan Browning (Tommy); four stepchildren that he considered his own, Robert Sledge (Marissa), Quindle Terry (Jackie), Michael Terry (Susan) and Lisa Thrasher (Tony); three grandchildren, Christina Crow Alvarado, Alex Stewart and Daniel Crow; four great-grandchildren, Tanner Phillips, Jackson Lawrence, Eli Lawrence and Stella Phillips; and numerous step-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Daniel Crow, Bud Sledge, Michael Terry, Tommy Browning and Alex Alvarado.  

 

James Earl Mills Jr.

Falkville

Funeral service for James Earl Mills Jr., 48, was June 13 at 2 p.m. at Faith Independent Church with Bro. Ralph Henderson and Bro. Freddie Childs officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body was laid in state for two hours prior to the service. Burial was in Turney Family Cemetery.

Mr. Mills died June 10 at Crestwood Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1971, in Morgan County to James Earl Mills Sr. and Dorothy Barnett. He was the pastor of Faith Independent Church for 13 years and has been a minister for 18 years. Being a very talented musician, singer and songwriter, he loved playing any of his instruments, whether it be the guitar, banjo or mandolin. He loved life and “Baby Love,” his wife. He loved preaching God’s Word and singing bospel and bluegrass gospel music. He was happiest when he was at home or at church with his Bible in one hand and his guitar in the other. He loved his nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews dearly.

Preceding him in death were his father, James Earl Mills Sr.; a brother, Buddy May; and mother-in-law and father-in law, “Mammy and Pappy,” Howard and Martha Turney.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Mills; mother, Dorothy Barnett; two brothers, Earnie Mills (Janice) and James E. Mills (Stacy); four sisters, Diane King (Anthony), Ann Parker (Mike), Kathy Gullett (Michael) and Ellen Mills Griffin; sister-in-law, Brenda Turney; brother-in-law, Gary Turney; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Malcolm Sheppard, Jesse Conn, Jake Reed, Don Sandlin, Mike Parker and James Terry.    

 

Donald B. Bullard

Hartselle

Funeral service for Donald B. Bullard, 79, was June 14 at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Vest, Bro. Elliott Gordon and Bro. Thomas Elder officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Mr. Bullard died June 11 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Morgan County to Wiley Daniel Bullard and Emma Sparkman Bullard, who preceded him in death. He was employed by Goode Machine as a machinist prior to his retirement.

His family would like to say a “special thanks” to Dr. Jason Seale, Dr. James Boyle, Dr. Reginald Gladish, the nurses and staff in ICU and on the third floor at Decatur Morgan Hospital and staff at the Dialysis Clinic Inc. in Decatur.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Owens Bullard, Hartselle; four sons, Greg Bullard, Nashville, Tenn., Anthony Bullard, Hartselle, Keith Bullard, Hartselle, and Tracy Bullard, Hartselle; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tyler Bullard, Ryan Bullard, Colton Bullard, Randall McCleskey, Braden Bullard, Brian Bullard, Kerry Bullard and Danny McCleskey.  

 

Judy Lynn May

Trussville

Funeral service for Judy Lynn May, 57, was June 15 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Ms. May died June 12 at St. Vincent’s Hospital. She was born April 19, 1962, in Morgan County. She was a homemaker, a dedicated mother and grandmother and a woman of faith. She was always there to care for anyone and everyone in any time of need.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ella Johnson, and a brother. Survivors include three sons, Nathan May (Heather), Bejamin May (Kimberly) and Christopher May Johnson, and five grandchildren.   

 

Susan Adams Penn

Hartselle

Funeral service for Susan Adams Penn, 66, was June 16 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Hartselle with the Rev. Mike Pope and the Rev. Doug Wells officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mrs. Penn died June 12 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born Dec. 9, 1952, in West Palm Beach, Fla., to the Rev. John T. Adams Jr. and Carolyn Whipple Adams.

Susan was a graduate of the University of South Florida and did her graduate study at the University of Alabama. As an elementary school teacher for 31 years, 30 of those years were at Crestline Elementary, where she helped educate students in the fourth grade. She was a member of the Pilot Club, a member of Mensa International and was a handbell ringer for the Adult Handbell Choir at First Methodist Church of Hartselle, where she was member for a number of years. She was a very loving wife, mother and sister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Ken Evans.

Survivors include her husband, H. Franklin Penn; one son, Charles Bracken Penn; one daughter, Caryn Elizabeth Penn; three sisters, JoAnn Evans, Kathy Evans (Earl) and Jane Kirby (Dr. Charles Kirby); brother-in-law, Charles Penn (Sharon); sister-in-law, Beverly Penn Waldrop; and nieces and nephews, Denise Evans, John Kirby (Kelly), Tim Evans (Kris), Katie Kirby Seymore (Jeff), Beth Anne Kirby Cormann (Gary), Blake Penn, Shanon Penn, Bobby Bowen (Linda) and Stephanie Henley (Warren).     

 

David Fowler

Falkville

David Fowler passed away June 14 at his residence in Morgan County at the age of 52.

He was born Nov. 6, 1966, in Cullman to William Feltus Fowler and Willodean Renfroe Fowler. He was a wonderful, dedicated husband and father who loved playing music, watching NASCAR, attending concerts, coaching his children in sports, camping with his family and watching his Auburn Tigers. David loved to laugh and to make others smile with his contagious laughter and jokes. Everyone who knew him knew how much he adored his family and his music, and he loved to fellowship at every opportunity. He was a selfless, generous man who loved life, and he served as a musician in his church for many years.

David will be missed by so many friends and family members, but his love for life will live on forever in their hearts.

His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Stacey Fowler; one son, Tyler Fowler; two daughters, Taylor Fowler and Lindsey Fowler; mother, Dean Fowler; one brother, DeWayne Fowler (Diona); one sister, Jackie Kinney (Tim); three nieces, Brooke Kinney Hudson (Wayne), Destiny Fowler and Desiree Fowler Couch (Derrick); one nephew, Blake Kinney; and special friends Jeremy Oden, Mike Morlock and Amy Steakey.

Funeral service for David Fowler was June 17 at 2 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Kinney officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Eva Cemetery. Pallbearers were Blake Kinney, Eric Crawford, Mike Morlock, Austin Fundling, Shane Freeman and Allen Kinney.
